45 entrepreneurs will benefit from grants from the European Union and the Government of the Republic of Moldova
A total of 45 entrepreneurs will receive grants totaling 12.2 million lei to help develop their businesses. Most of the funding comes from the European Union, while others are supported by the Government of the Republic of Moldova. Nearly half of the beneficiaries are from the industrial sector, which receives the largest investments.
Iurie Caraman accessed a grant of half a million lei from the Organization for Business Development (ODA). He manages a farm with 280 cows in the village of Holercani, Dubăsari district. With this funding, he plans to purchase high-performance equipment.
"The biggest problem we have faced over the years has been manure management and storage issues. We plan to build two basins to store manure, which will later be used on our agricultural land. This grant will also help us procure mixers for fertilizer, and eventually, we aim to develop our farm to the capacity that would allow us to construct a milk processing factory," said the entrepreneur.
Victor Belciug opened a car service in Hâncești two years ago. To expand his business, he secured a grant of 200,000 lei. "This is a personal endeavor and a family business I've always wanted. Each month, we service about 100 cars, but our equipment is outdated and needs renewal," said Victor Belciug.
Ion Rusu has been managing a hotel in Cricova for six years. He has recently noticed an increase in foreign visitors. With a grant of 430,000 lei, he plans to enhance the hotel’s digital systems. "We want to improve our customer management services, upgrade our website, implement online payment options, and enhance our promotion on social media," pointed out Ion Rusu.
Elena Crețu has received a grant for the first time and plans to establish a photo studio. "All the funds will be invested in software, lighting, and other technology to elevate the studio to a professional level," Elena explained.
"We continue to advance our development agenda to assist more individuals in selling not only within the country but also internationally. Increasingly, companies are choosing the EU market for their business," emphasized Dumitru Alaiba, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization.
"Supporting entrepreneurship and the sustainable development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will remain a central focus in our partnership with the Republic of Moldova. This will be one of the priorities in the new cooperation framework, which is currently being negotiated with the Government," said Adam Grodzicki, Deputy Head of the Cooperation Section of the Delegation of the European Union.
Since the beginning of the year, over 500 companies have accessed grants worth 205 million lei through ODA. Almost 150,000 lei came from the state budget, with the remainder provided by the European Union.
