Criminal investigation against the former deputy head of the IGP, Gheorghe Cavcaliuc was completed
The criminal investigation regarding the former deputy head of the General Police Inspectorate, Gheorghe Cavcaliuc, was completed, the General Prosecutor's Office announces. The case concerns his investigation in the Petic and Verbițchi files, known to the public for investigating the staging of a rape - in the first case and the staging of the carrying and keeping of ammunition - in the second case.
"Specifically, PCCOCS prosecutors charge him with abuse of office (as the perpetrator of the crime), as well as the capacity of organizer of the following crimes: false reporting, filing and determination to file false statements, violation of the inviolability of personal life, carrying and keeping ammunition . According to the law, the most serious of these crimes - abuse of office - is punishable by imprisonment from 3 to 8 years", explains the General Prosecutor's Office in a statement.
The cited source states that the accused evades prosecution and refuses to appear before the prosecutors. Therefore, the law enforcement officers requested the Chisinau Court based in Ciocana, to authorize the completion of the criminal investigation in his absence. Later, it will become possible to send the file to court, during which it prevails on the presumption of innocence, according to the law.
