Syria in crisis: Assad's regime falls amid rebel advance

The Syrian Army Command informed its officers of the fall of President Bashar al-Assad's regime.

Reuters reported this, citing unnamed Syrian officers. According to these sources, Assad left Damascus and went to an unknown destination.

Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Ghazi al-Jalali announced his readiness to cooperate with any leadership chosen by the Syrian people.

On Sunday morning, the Syrian Army stated that its forces were continuing military operations against rebels in the rural areas of Hama, Homs, and Daraa, according to Reuters.

This announcement came after the rebels declared on local television that they had liberated Damascus and overthrown President Bashar al-Assad's government.

The Syrian Army called the events unfolding in the country a massive conspiracy and urged citizens to remain vigilant to protect Syria's stability and sovereignty.

AP showed footage of Damascus residents taking to the streets to greet the rebels. Reports also indicated that prisoners were being freed from prisons.

Meanwhile, the Il-76 aircraft carrying Assad, who had fled the country, disappeared from radar.

Official sources have not confirmed Assad's location or whether an accident is possible, according to News.Az.

Turkey, Iran, Russia, and Arab countries have called for an end to the war in Syria.

During negotiations in Qatar, Turkey, Iran, Russia, and five Arab countries voiced their support for ending military operations in Syria and starting a political process.

In a joint statement, they stressed the importance of protecting civilians, maintaining the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the country, and preventing anarchy and terrorism.
