EU will provide drone interception equipment to the Republic of Moldova
The Republic of Moldova is set to receive drone interception equipment from the European Union. This decision was made in Brussels, but it will take additional time to deliver the equipment. This was announced by the Ambassador of the European Union to Chisinau, Jānis Mažeiks, during the “La 360 de grade” program on Radio Moldova.

While Mažeiks could not provide a specific date for the arrival of the equipment, he indicated that it is not expected to arrive until 2025.
In this context, he highlighted the EU's support for the Armed Forces of the Republic of Moldova over the past three years, which has included the provision of non-lethal equipment.
“If this equipment arrives in the Republic of Moldova, it will help prevent situations where drones from outside enter our territory,” Jānis Mažeiks said.
Since the onset of the war launched by Russia against Ukraine, several drones have been detected in the districts of Causeni, Criuleni, Râșcani, and in the municipality of Chișinău.
Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi previously stated that the radar system purchased by the authorities in Chișinău at the end of last year is operational. However, he emphasized that this system alone is insufficient. Therefore, additional radars with greater capabilities are expected to arrive in the country by the end of 2025.
The first fragments of a missile intercepted by the Ukrainian air defense system landed in the Republic of Moldova on October 31, 2022, in the northern part of the village of Naslavcea, located in the Ocnița district, which borders Ukraine.
