Moldovan MP faces corruption charges
A former Moldovan Member of Parliament (MP) is facing charges of illicit enrichment and false declaration of assets.
The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office alleges that between 2016 and 2017, the MP, through close relatives who are also accused of complicity, acquired a car valued at approximately €13,312 and a luxury apartment in Chișinău worth approximately €37,156. These acquisitions significantly exceeded her declared income.
Furthermore, the former MP failed to include the real estate in her asset and interest declarations for the years 2017-2024, concealing this substantial acquisition. The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office states that both the defendant and her relatives have denied the charges.
Under Moldova's legislation, the former MP faces up to seven years in prison. Additionally, a seizure has been placed on the defendant's real estate, which is estimated to be worth approximately €140,400.
