Allowances for victims of political repression will be increased from January 1, 2025

Victims of political repression from 1917 to 1990 will see an increase in their monthly state allowances, starting January 1, 2025. A draft amendment to the Law on Additional Social Protection for Certain Categories of the Population was approved in the second reading by 70 deputies.

Beginning next year, the monthly allowances for these victims will rise by 250 lei, bringing the total to 1,250 lei.

According to the National Social Insurance House, 6,073 individuals will benefit from these increased allowances. The government estimates that approximately 18.2 million lei will be allocated from the state budget to cover these payments.
