Germany offers a grant of 15 million euros to improve water infrastructure in the Republic of Moldova
The German Government is offering a grant of 14 million euros to improve water infrastructure in the central region of the Republic of Moldova. According to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, the cities of Chisinau, Straseni and Calarasi will benefit from the investment.
Following the project implementation, 14.4 thousand residents of Calarasi and 19.2 thousand of Straseni will benefit from improved access to drinking water after the rehabilitation and expansion of the aqueduct networks.
Residents of the villages of Pitusca and Varzaresti Noi in Calarasi district, a total of about 5 thousand, will also have water in their households, after the localities are connected to the Chisinau-Straseni-Calarasi main aqueduct and internal water distribution networks are built.
The project also provides for the connection of the village of Căpriana in the Strașeni district to the Chișinău-Strășeni-Călărași main aqueduct and the construction of internal water distribution networks in the locality, for 2.6 thousand inhabitants.
For the municipality of Chișinău, the project provides for the construction of a new water intake station from the Nistru, the main pumping station at Vadul lui Vodă and a new pipeline to the second pumping station at Vadul lui Vodă.
