Moldova expands healthcare coverage for 2025
The National Health Insurance Fund (CNAM) has announced a one-month extension to the health insurance renewal period for 2025.
Individuals who insured themselves in 2024 will now be covered until January 31, 2025. The annual insurance premium remains at 9%, with a fixed annual fee of 12,636 lei. Early renewal by March 31 offers significant benefits.
This extension aims to accommodate individuals who may have missed the initial deadline due to various reasons. It provides them with a grace period to update their documents and make necessary payments, ensuring continuous health insurance coverage.
For 2025, the compulsory health insurance fund has been increased to 92 million lei. This allocation will fund the expansion of the list of covered medications and reduce waiting times for healthcare services.
Additionally, Moldova will introduce the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) this year. This card will enable Moldovan citizens to access necessary healthcare services while in other EU countries, and vice versa. For instance, a pregnant woman whose partner is in another EU country can receive healthcare coverage in that country.
The implementation of the EHIC aligns with Moldova's efforts to integrate with European healthcare systems and provide its citizens with greater access to quality healthcare.
