Russia launches massive drone attack on Ukraine
Ukraine was hit by a massive drone attack overnight Saturday, with over 100 drones targeting critical infrastructure and civilian areas across the country.
The Ukrainian Air Force confirmed that the attack originated from Russia's Kursk, Oryol, Bryansk, and Milerovo regions.
Ukrainian forces successfully intercepted 56 drones, including Shahed drones, in regions such as Chernihiv, Sumy, Kyiv, Poltava, Cherkasy, Khmelnytskyi, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Dnipropetrovsk. Another 49 drones were lost, while three returned to Russia.
In a separate attack, Ukraine was struck by an S-300 missile.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Russia has launched nearly 630 guided bombs, 550 attack drones, and over 100 missiles at Ukraine this week alone. He urged the international community to strengthen Ukraine's air defenses and unite against Russian aggression.
"I thank our brave defenders and our partners for supporting our air defense efforts to protect our people. The world must unite to force Russia to end its terror and achieve a just peace," Zelenskyy said on Telegram.
