Anatolie Nosatîi: In the coming months we expect a major confrontation between Ukraine and Russia
In the coming months we expect a major confrontation on the battlefield between Ukraine and Russia, Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi told Realitatea.md.
According to him, the war in the neighboring country will intensify when the weather conditions are more favorable for the attack.
"Ukrainians are fighting a war for independence and I don't think they will agree to stop where they are, considering how much this war has cost. What concerns the Russian side, it is clear that it is someone's desire and plans, they will do their best to make the strategic goals that have been clearly stated by the leadership, including the President of the Russian Federation. That's why we expect a major confrontation in the coming months, as soon as the climatic conditions allow for the possibility of maneuvering on the battlefields", said Anatolie Nosatîi.
We remind that on February 24, 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine, in a major escalation of the Russian-Ukrainian war that began in 2014. The invasion resulted in tens of thousands of deaths on both sides. It has caused Europe's biggest refugee crisis since World War II. About 8 million Ukrainians were internally displaced by the end of May, and more than 7.9 million had fled the country by January 17, 2023.
According to a report by the British Royal Forces Institute, Russia planned to take over Ukraine within ten days, but this plan failed due to the Russians' poorly trained military.
