Moldova guarantees no power cuts, compensation for price hikes
In the Republic of Moldova, there will be no temporary electricity outages, and if energy prices rise, citizens will receive compensation.
This was mentioned by the Speaker of Parliament, Igor Grosu, recently on the TV8 show Black Box.
"We are currently negotiating with the Romanian side on all possible scenarios. If the price increases, we will certainly offer compensation. We have resources set aside in case this situation arises, and we will provide support. We will calculate the price and then communicate the details. Discussions with the Romanian side are ongoing, so it is too early to make any statements. – But is it certain there will be compensation? – Yes," said Igor Grosu.
It is worth noting that Energocom announced it will purchase 100 MW of energy from the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant in România, from January 1 to March 31. This is nearly three times the amount compared to December. A contract to this effect was signed on Thursday, December 19, between the two companies.
Citizens of the Republic of Moldova receive financial compensation during the cold season. According to a decision, eligible beneficiaries registered on the compensații.gov.md platform (approximately 90% of the total number) will receive assistance ranging from 300 to 800 lei, depending on their vulnerability level. No compensation for December has been determined yet.
