Romania's accession to the Schengen Area on January 1, 2025, offers several benefits for Moldovan citizens, streamlining the travel process within the European Union, reads a statement from the Border Police. Some of the key advantages for Moldovan citizens include enhanced mobility, easier travel and tourism opportunities, and support for the European integration process of Moldova.

Romania's upcoming entry into the Schengen area will remove systematic border controls between Romania and other Schengen countries. As a result, Moldovan citizens with biometric passports will experience a faster and simpler process when entering Schengen nations through Romania.

Additionally, the lack of border controls will encourage Moldovan citizens to travel more frequently for tourism, education, or business, due to the reduced time and complexity involved in border crossings.

The Border Police emphasize that Romania's physical and practical integration into the Schengen area is a significant symbolic and logistical step in supporting the European aspirations of the Republic of Moldova.

No Moldovan citizen is currently among the victims of the car attack that occurred on Friday evening at the Christmas Market in the German city of Magdeburg, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chisinau. The ministry reports that the Moldovan embassy in Berlin is in constant communication with German authorities. As of now, the incident has resulted in at least four deaths and approximately 200 injuries. The identities of all the victims have not yet been disclosed, and authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the event.
