Nicolaescu named best football player of 2024 at Gala Laureaților
The forward of the Republic of Moldova national team and Dutch club Heerenveen has won this title for the second consecutive year.
The name of the best football player of the year was announced at the "Gala Laureaților" (Laureates' Gala), broadcast live on television.
Nicolaescu is the all-time top scorer for the national team with 16 goals, having scored twice for the senior side this year. Ion also had solid performances with Heerenveen, scoring 8 goals in 2024.
Dumitru Celeadnic from Sheriff was named Goalkeeper of the Year. Victor Mudrac won the Best Defender award, after recently parting ways with Petrocub. Teodor Lungu, also from Petrocub, was named Midfielder of the Year.
Justice Ohajunwa from Zimbru was voted Best Striker. The "Revelation of the Year" title was awarded to Petrocub Hâncești, who became national champion and won the Moldova Cup.
Andrei Martin was named Coach of the Year for 2024. Under his guidance, Petrocub Hâncești achieved a historic double and played in the main phase of a European club competition for the first time.
