The "Bank fraud" case: A new court session was set for the case of Vladimir Plahotniuc

A new court session will take place On February 6 where the former leader of the Democrats Vladimir Plahotniuc is targeted in the "Bank fraud" file. The information was unveiled on Thursday by the Anti Corruption Prosecutor's Office.

Radio Moldova reminds its audience that on November 17, 2022, the Chisinau Court of Ciocana admitted the approach of the Anti Corruption Prosecutor's Office, requesting the agreement to complete the criminal investigation, in the absence of the accused Vladimir Plahotniuc.

As a result, the defenders of the interests of the accused Plahotniuc contested the conclusion of the trial court with an appeal, and the first hearing in the Chisinau Court of Appeal took place on 28 December 2022.

As a result, 3 court hearings took place, where the defense submitted new requests to lift the exception of unconstitutionality, recusal requests, or requests to postpone the court hearings, the prosecutors constantly pleading for the rejection of the respective requests.

If the Chisinau Court of Appeal upholds the contested decision, the criminal case will be sent to court for examination on the merits, according to the Anti Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
