President of the Parliament Igor Grosu and the President of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Mustafa Şentop, discussed the situation in the region and the biggest problems facing the Republic of Moldova due to the war in Ukraine started by Russia.
The Speaker, who is paying a visit to Ankara, stated that the Republic of Moldova was making efforts to maintain peace and order in the country and to build a strong economy and a state that values and protects each of its citizens.
In the context of the intensification of parliamentary diplomacy, the officials discussed the bilateral projects, namely on the line of specialised parliamentary committees, but also within the Moldovan-Turkish friendship group.
The two officials also talked about the situation in the Gagauz Autonomy. According to the President Mustafa Șentop, the Gagauz ethnics represent a bridge between our countries, and the Turkish authorities will continue to make efforts for the development of the region and invest in educational projects to study the Gagauz and Romanian languages so that "they feel as connected as possible to the Republic Moldova".
