Power disconnections in the Transnistrian region average 5 hours per day

The right bank of the Nistru will have electricity on January 11, according to the Government Crisis Cell. However, power disconnections in the Transnistrian region and some localities in the Security Zone have increased to 5 hours per day, occurring once daily.

The electricity consumption needs for the right bank on January 11 will be fully met without the need to activate emergency contracts, the Government reports. SA "Energocom" has reserved commercial capacity at the border with Romania to ensure that 100% of electricity consumption needs are covered.

In the Transnistrian region, hourly disconnections continue, with authorities stating that, while the outages on January 7, 8, and 9 were 8 hours daily in two parts, today, January 10, only 5-hour disconnections are scheduled, occurring once a day. This disconnection schedule also affects the villages of Copanca and Varnița, which are controlled by the constitutional authorities.

We remind you that current electricity consumption in the Transnistrian region is provided by the Cuciurgan power plant and the Dubăsari hydroelectric power plant; however, these facilities do not generate sufficient electricity to meet the demand.

Furthermore, the Commission for Emergencies decided on January 6 that the village of Varnița in the Anenii Noi district and the village of Copanca in the Căușeni district would be connected to the electricity distribution networks of "Premier Energy Distribution" SA. Since the onset of the energy crisis, the Government has provided humanitarian aid, including fuel and generators, to assist residents affected by the electricity shortages. Additionally, 14 localities in the Security Zone are set to be integrated into the natural gas distribution networks operated by licensed providers under "Moldovagaz."

On January 10, the company submitted a plan to ANRE for connecting these localities to the gas networks on the right side of the Nistru.
