Oleg Serebrian: A meeting in the “1+1” format will take place on Friday. Chisinau came up with this initiative

A meeting in the 1+1 format between Chisinau and Tiraspol will take place on Friday, January 17, said Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian. The main topic would be supporting measures to overcome the humanitarian crisis on the left bank of the Nistru. Serebrian noted that the agenda proposed to Tiraspol by Chisinau is concrete and includes the creation of an ad-hoc group to manage this issue.

“Chisinau came up with this initiative, taking into account the seriousness of the situation. We believe that we must discuss strictly humanitarian issues, we have no political issues to discuss now. Tiraspol insists on my travelling there. We will not go there, because the argument that Tiraspol has had until now is that it feels insecure in Chisinau and because of this, starting with 2023, we were forced, we went to meet them and went to these meetings in a 1 + 1 format, in Bender or in Tiraspol. We proposed that they come to Chisinau, to the OSCE office. But if they still insist on not wanting to come to Chisinau, then we will have an online meeting”, claims Serebrian.

Moreover, Oleg Serebrian reiterated that the region on the left bank of the Nistru is facing a humanitarian crisis, which is deepening and immediate measures must be taken to solve it. At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration claims that, in the future, the left bank should also be supplied with natural gas on the free market.

"It is certain that we no longer need gas for either the right or the left bank, and that the energy independence of both banks is a strategic goal. The Transnistrian region must be taught to live by the economic rules of a free market. This will also be a step towards European integration and reintegration."

We remind you that the alleged leader of Tiraspol, Vadim Krasnoselski, who returned from a visit to Moscow, announced that the Transnistrian region would soon receive "humanitarian" gas from Russia.
