The number of respiratory infection cases is increasing in Chisinau
The number of viral disease cases is rising in Chisinau and hospital beds are at their limit. These statements were made by the deputy head of the General Directorate of Medical and Social Assistance, Vladimir Bolocan, during a city hall meeting. According to him, approximately 2000 cases of acute viral respiratory infections were recorded in Chișinău, with this number increasing over the weekend.
“We are in a period of intensification and increase in cases of flu and other respiratory infections. Currently, we are nearly at maximum capacity regarding the number of cases and the human resources involved in the admission and treatment process. If we refer to infectious disease cases, we have a 15 percent increase from those reported by the ANSP system,” Bolocan stated.
Bolocan mentioned that authorities will closely monitor the evolution of the epidemiological situation in the coming days and, if necessary, will seek support from republican institutions to increase capacity.
