Sudan market bombing: Dozens killed, hundreds injured
At least 54 people were killed and 158 injured in Sudan after a bombing by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces at a market in Omdurman, Reuters reported.

The Sudanese Doctors' Syndicate said a mortar shell landed just meters from Al-Naw Hospital, where most of the market victims were taken. They said most of the dead were women and children, adding that the hospital faces a severe shortage of medical staff, particularly surgeons and nurses.
Culture Minister and government spokesman Khalid al-Aleisir condemned the attack, saying the victims included many women and children. He added that the attack caused widespread destruction, according to newstimes.
"This criminal act adds to this militia’s bloody record,” he said. “It’s a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law,” he added.
The war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces erupted in April 2023, resulting in tens of thousands of deaths, millions of displaced people, and a famine affecting half the country's population. Last week, 70 people were killed in an attack on the only functioning hospital in the besieged city of El Fasher, in the western Darfur region.
