Dorin Recean: “Moldovans will receive compensation for energy by December 2025”
All citizens of the Republic of Moldova will benefit from compensation for electricity by December 2025, thanks to the financial aid worth 250 million euros offered by the European Union. Prime Minister Dorin Recean explained in a video posted on Facebook that each family will pay the first 110 kWh of the bill at the rate that “was before the increase in energy prices”.

This is the second stage of European support after the first represented the allocation of emergency aid, of which 10 million are intended for the right bank of the Nistru.
“We will provide compensation for businesses worth 15 million euros, in addition to the aid already provided by the Government and will allow the compensation of 50% of energy costs for the agri-food sector. With a budget of 20 million euros, we will fully cover the increase in energy bills for institutions of social importance, 50 million will be provided for financing energy efficiency projects”, Recean said.
The third stage of European aid represents an action plan for the next two years, which includes energy efficiency of buildings, increasing the share of renewable energy, and storage solutions, and completing interconnection lines with Romania. The European Union will also allocate 60 million euros, in addition to the 20 million support for the period 1-10 February, in order to cover the energy needs of the region until mid-April. This amount would constitute 70% of the social consumption they had until the crisis.
“The assistance will be conditioned by concrete actions that respect human rights and fundamental freedoms in the region, and which must be agreed with the Government of the Republic of Moldova before the aid is used. An assumed plan that gradually updates energy tariffs to market prices for consumers in the region. Large companies that export products will have to pay market prices for energy. They will also have to exclude industrial consumers with high energy consumption from the support package”, explained the Prime Minister.
The support package worth 250 million euros from the European Union to mitigate the impact of the energy crisis caused by Russia was announced today in the conference held by President Maia Sandu and European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, who is visiting Chisinau.
