Moldovan soldiers take oath of allegiance to their homeland
Over 200 soldiers swore an oath of allegiance to their Homeland today. During the ceremony, the young recruits were accompanied by a military band and were congratulated by their superiors.

On the other side of the parade ground, the soldiers’ families and friends gathered to support them, and emotions ran high.
"I swear to defend my homeland! Even at the cost of my own life! To uphold the laws of the Republic of Moldova!"
Constantin Buga, 20, returned home after spending time abroad. He was conscripted into the National Army.
"It was an incredible experience, especially when I took the oath. My parents and relatives were there, and the emotions… I can’t put them into words," said the young soldier.
By his side was his mother, who said she was proud of her son.
"I’m so proud of the son I raised. I take pride in the fact that he is now serving in the army, and if anything were to happen in the world, he would be able to defend his Homeland," said Nelea Buga, the soldier’s mother.
"I truly feel a sense of duty toward my country, a duty that every man should have," said Alexandru Bordian, another soldier.
Alexandru, 18, said he would fulfill his military service responsibly.
"Today, together with my fellow comrades, I swore an oath of allegiance to my Homeland. Now, as soldiers, we will study military strategy with diligence and make every effort so that our commanders—and, most importantly, our parents—can be proud of us," the young man declared.
"This was his decision, and I supported him. I believe he made the right choice. Of course, a mother always misses her child when he’s away. I feel emotional and proud—not just of my son but of all these young men," said Larisa Bordian, Alexandru’s mother.
The necessity of military service remains a topic of debate in society. "Why do we need an army? Whom are we supposed to fight, and what are we defending?" These are common questions. However, Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi emphasized:
"Every country in the world has a national defense system, and Moldova is no exception. As for what we are defending—the answer is simple: our country. And whom are we protecting? Everyone—our parents, our children, our grandparents."
The Republic of Moldova aims to rise five places in the global military power ranking by next year. Currently, it is ranked second to last, according to a Global Firepower study.
