Construction work will commence this April on a key project, the Ungheni-Ungheni bridge, which will be named the "Flower Bridge" to symbolize the 1990 event when Romanians and Moldovans symbolically reunited on the banks of the Prut.

In another incident, a citizen of the Republic of Moldova residing on the left bank of the Nistru was reportedly kidnapped from the center of Chișinău by so-called Transnistrian militias for an alleged crime.
