"Romanița" building in the Botanica sector of Chisinau on fire. Two people died
Update 18:33 Two people died as a result of the fire on the 17th floor of the "Romanița" building in the Botanica Sector. The information was confirmed for Teleradio-Moldova by the IGSU press officer, Liliana Pușcașu.
A significant fire erupted on the evening of February 12, 2025, in an apartment located on the 17th floor of the "Romanița" apartment building on Nicolae Testemițanu Str. in Chișinău. According to the General Inspectorate for Emergencies (IGSU), 72 rescuers, along with nine technical units, are currently on the scene.
The press officer of the IGSU reported that a call was made to the 112 Service at 5:34 PM, prompting the mobilization of intervention teams based on emergency level 2. Due to the thick smoke, firefighters evacuated several individuals from the 18th floor to prevent them from inhaling harmful combustion fumes.
Currently, the fire has been localized, and rescuers are extinguishing it. As of now, no casualties have been reported, and specialists will determine the circumstances of the fire.
