Torrential rains cause flooding in Kentucky and Georgia
Torrential rains that struck the southeastern United States over the weekend caused massive flooding, resulting in at least 10 fatalities.

The hardest-hit states were Kentucky and Georgia, where floodwaters submerged many roads and homes.
Donald Trump authorized the declaration of a state of emergency, mobilizing the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to coordinate rescue and recovery efforts, according to BBC. Nine people in Kentucky died due to the flooding, while another 1,000 were trapped by the rising waters and required rescue teams to intervene.
Another person in Georgia died when a tree was uprooted and crashed onto their house. Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina were under storm warnings throughout the weekend. Tens of thousands of homes were without power.
