U.S. strengthens Moldova's defense with armored vehicle donation
The National Army has received a new shipment of military equipment from the U.S. government.

The 29 armored vehicles, provided to enhance the defense capabilities of the Republic of Moldova, were presented today during a ceremony held at the Military Training Camp.
The U.S.-supplied armored vehicles will be used by the "Fulger" Special Operations Battalion in national and international exercises, in accordance with the unit’s mission profile.
“We are equipping our personnel with advanced technology to ensure their safety while fulfilling their mission. Moldova requires a strong defense system to safeguard peace and security, ensuring that citizens feel protected and can live their lives in peace,” said Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatîi.
The vehicles can be utilized in any type of mission, thanks to their ability to operate on both rough terrain and waterways.
“The empty weight of this vehicle is 4.7 tons, and when fully loaded with personnel and equipment, it increases to 6 tons. It can traverse both rough terrain and paved roads, can be air-dropped, and enables deployment in any location worldwide,” said Sergeant Veaceslav Neamțu.
The armored vehicles are equipped with integrated heating and air conditioning systems, essential for operations in harsh climates.
“These vehicles are more modern, featuring air conditioning and heating systems for winter, along with various support systems during movement. They are also equipped with radio stations and communication systems, including amplifiers and antennas, which ensure secure long-range communication even in challenging environments,” mentioned Sergeant Denis Pari.
The 29 armored vehicles, produced in 2024, were delivered to the National Army in January through the External Assistance Program. Their total value is $8.9 million. Over the past five years, the United States has donated $90 million for the modernization of Moldova’s National Army.
