Designated Minister of Energy, Dorin Junghietu, takes the oath of office

The Minister-designate of Energy, Dorin Junghietu, took the oath of office on February 19, before President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean. The Head of State welcomed the new member of the Executive to the government team and pointed out that he was assuming responsibility for an extremely important, but also complicated, field for the Republic of Moldova.

"*My expectations and those of the citizens are primarily related to the completion of projects that must ensure our increased energy security, we have important projects, including the Chisinau-Vulcănești high-voltage line, which must be completed so that our citizens are no longer blackmailed by anyone. We must work to continue to offer and ensure electricity, natural gas and thermal energy at the best prices. An important project for us is also renewable energy to strengthen our security and contribute to reducing prices," said President Maia Sandu.

Dorin Junghietu has extensive experience in the gas and energy sector. With over 16 years of international activity in the coordination and implementation of major projects in the field, Junghietu will have the responsibility of managing a strategic sector for the Republic of Moldova.

According to Prime Minister Dorin Recean, by the end of the year, the new priorities of the Ministry of Energy include:

Dorin Junghietu won the competition for the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of "Moldovagaz" last fall, but, to date, Gazprom has not approved this change.

We remind you that on December 5, Prime Minister Recean requested the resignations of the Minister of Energy, Victor Parlicov, the interim general director of "Energocom", Victor Bînzari, and Sergiu Tofilat from the position of member of the Board of Observers of "Moldovagaz". The accusations focused on the lack of effective action to supply the country with natural gas. Subsequently, State Secretary Constantin Borosan was appointed to coordinate the administrative-organizational activities of the Ministry of Energy.
