MEP Siegfried Mureșan: The Russian Federation must stop the aggression in Ukraine
Ukraine must achieve a just peace with security guarantees to prevent future Russian aggression, and to initiate a peace dialogue, the Russian Federation must cease the aggression, said MEP Siegfried Mureșan on the show "Dimineata cu Radio Moldova".
"For Russia, the choice is between war and peace, and Russia is the one who chose war. Ukraine, unfortunately, does not have a choice between war and peace, Ukraine has a choice as long as the Russian Federation continues the invasion between fighting or capitulation. Ukraine is doing very well in choosing to fight. So, I also want peace, but this can only be imposed unilaterally by the aggressor who stops the fight, or through negotiations. It is important that peace is just peace, that there are security guarantees for Ukraine, that there is stability and that the Russian Federation does not have the tools to endanger the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine again in the future", said Siegried Mureșan.
3 years after the start of the war in Ukraine, the fighting continues, and lately there has been more and more talk about peace, but without Kiev's participation at the negotiating table. The United States, now led by Donald Trump, wants a share of Ukraine's minerals in exchange for military aid. European allies are determined to continue supporting the war-torn country.
Kiev is preparing for the Ukraine 2025 Forum, and today European leaders are expected in the Ukrainian capital. Both the Ukrainian president and European partners are calling for a just peace with security guarantees.
