Ukraine reconstruction: $524B cost & rising
The World Bank, the European Commission, and the UN have increased their estimated total cost for Ukraine's reconstruction and recovery.

New calculations estimate that $524 billion will be needed over the next decade. A year ago, these institutions reported that $486 billion would be needed.
A new World Bank report estimates losses between February 24, 2022, and December 31, 2024. Current estimates indicate that 13% of Ukraine's housing stock has been damaged or destroyed, affecting more than 2.5 million households.
The energy sector has experienced a 70% increase in damaged or destroyed assets since the last report, including electricity generation, transmission, distribution infrastructure, and district heating.
The greatest needs are in housing, followed by transportation, energy and mining, trade, industry, and agriculture.
