Important visit three years after the Republic of Moldova's application for EU membership: António Costa comes to Chisinau

The President of the European Council, António Costa, will pay a working visit to Chisinau on Monday, 3 March. He will meet with the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu. The visit marks three years since the Republic of Moldova submitted its application for membership of the European Union.

According to a statement from the presidential institution, the two officials will hold a press conference at the Presidency on Monday morning.

We remind you that the Republic of Moldova applied for membership in the EU on March 3, 2022. Less than a year later, the European Commission issued its opinion on the application for membership in the community bloc. Accession negotiations were officially launched in June 2024.
