Grosu and Bolojan reaffirm Moldova-Romania partnership

Igor Grosu, the President of Moldova's Legislature, stated after his meeting with interim President of Romania, Ilie Bolojan, that Bolojan’s visit to Chișinău is further proof that Moldova and Romania are advancing together in a united, strong, and prosperous Europe.

Ilie Bolojan: “The war against Ukraine is creating challenges for Moldova, but Romania will continue to provide support.”

“Both Moldova and Romania are facing complex challenges, including hybrid attacks, aggressive propaganda, and energy blackmail aimed at dividing us and pushing us off our path to joining the European family. But we will not let our enemies succeed in their plans. We will fight for the truth and demonstrate through action that we are strong and invincible. While others seek to weaken us and bring us to our knees, together with Romania, we are building cross-border bridges: Costești – Stânca, Leova – Bumbăta, Leca – Fălciu, Bărboieni – Răducăneni; we are building railway bridges like Fălciu – Cantemir; we are constructing power lines from Bălți to Suceava and from Gutinaș to Strășeni. This is what it means to have reliable partners, and we truly felt that this past winter when we witnessed how an aggressor state attempted to provoke a humanitarian crisis in our country, which could then escalate into a security crisis. But once again, Moldova stood strong. We resisted once again, thanks to Romania and the European Union – we have electricity, we have gas, and we have peace,” Igor Grosu stated on his Facebook page.

Igor Grosu also mentioned that 2025 will be a key year for the people on both sides of the Prut River – with parliamentary elections in Moldova and presidential elections in Romania. “We have a shared responsibility to defend our vote and our future. The outcome of these elections will determine the continuation of our path. Therefore, let us preserve peace, ensure a secure region, and work towards a better life. Only under the flag of the European Union, united, will we be strong,” emphasized Igor Grosu.

Ilie Bolojan arrived in Chișinău this morning, where he was welcomed with military honors by President Maia Sandu at the presidential administration headquarters. Later, the two officials held a press conference where they reaffirmed their mutual support in overcoming internal and regional security challenges.
