The real number of people who live in the Republic of Moldova amounts to 2.6 million. Figures were calculated by applying the international methodology for calculating the population of usual residence, but also taking into account the number of people who leave and return to the country, IPN reports.

The calculation of the revised population numbers at both national and local levels was carried out by the National Bureau of Statistics with the support of the United Nations Population Fund, the source reported.
