President of the Czech Republic in Chișinău: "We are strong supporters of Moldova's European integration"

The Czech Republic reaffirms its support for the Republic of Moldova on its path to the European Union. Czech President Petr Pavel made this statement during a joint press conference with President Maia Sandu on Thursday in Chișinău. He emphasized that his country’s experience in the EU accession process could serve as an example for Moldova and pledged that Prague will continue to support this goal.
"We have the same history and experience, and we share with you our knowledge regarding EU accession. I reaffirm the Czech Republic’s support for Moldova on this journey."
President Pavel outlined the benefits his country has gained from EU membership, highlighting economic progress, improved market standards, and enhanced security.
"This decision gave us the best possible alternative, without a doubt. It helped us improve our quality of life. That is why we are strong supporters of your European integration—it offers new potential for adapting to the future."
He spoke about the positive development of bilateral economic relations, pointing to the significant increase in trade between the two countries over the past four years.
"We wish to continue our cooperation and remain committed to supporting Moldova’s development programs. We will assist Moldova in its European journey, ensuring a secure and prosperous future in Europe."
In response, President Maia Sandu emphasized the strong friendship between the Republic of Moldova and the Czech Republic, expressing gratitude for the ongoing support in key sectors. She highlighted projects such as the modernization of water treatment systems in Briceni, the creation of a network of medical-social centers for elderly care, and assistance for farmers in establishing a safer phytosanitary system.
"The Republic of Moldova and the Czech Republic are friendly nations, united by shared values and a commitment to providing our citizens with a better life, greater security, and more opportunities. In recent years, our relationship has developed rapidly, and for that, we are grateful. (...) Our partnership extends beyond economic and social cooperation, actively contributing to the Republic of Moldova’s security."
