Maia Sandu talked with foresters about advancing the National Afforestation Programme
Actions that institutions involved in the country's afforestation programme must implement in the coming months have been discussed today at the Presidency between Head of State Maia Sandu and representatives of 24 forestry enterprises, the Moldsilva Agency and the Ministry of Environment. The talks also focused on ways to speed up the implementation of the programme.
The national afforestation programme, initiated by Maia Sandu, envisages increasing the area of forests in our country in order to enhance resilience to climate change and to preserve and develop our national forest resources.
The programme will soon be approved by the Government and provides for extensive tree and seedling planting and forest rehabilitation activities on at least some 145,000 hectares in the coming decade.
