Poland wants to increase its spending on defence
NATO member Poland, which borders Ukraine, is going to increase its national defence budget to 4% of gross domestic product in 2023, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced Monday, AFP reports.

Poland's military currently has a total of 164,000 men and women in service, including 36,000 volunteers from national security units.
Poland has decided to attract more citizens into its armed forces by introducing voluntary basic military service and one-day nationwide military training courses just for those willing.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine has affected the security architecture in Europe and around the world, with governments increasing their defence investments and sending aid to Kiev.
