Earth Hour: Moldova’s leaders join global effort for climate action

The Parliament and the Government of Moldova are once again joining the global "Earth Hour" movement this year.
This evening, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, the institutions will switch off the lights for one hour and urge citizens to follow suit.
In doing so, the authorities state that they will show solidarity with people around the world, contributing to environmental protection and mitigating the effects of climate change.
The symbolism of this day is reflected in switching off the lights for one hour, a simple gesture to demonstrate a commitment to reducing energy consumption.
This year, more than 8,000 cities in 190 countries will take part in the event, aiming to inspire people, communities, businesses, and governments to act for biodiversity protection, combat climate change, and promote sustainable living.
A study by the World Wide Fund for Nature shows that turning off the power during Earth Hour resulted in an average 4% reduction in electricity consumption.
