Ukrainian Defence Minister to discuss in Paris stepping up military assistance to Ukraine

Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksi Reznikov is on an official visit to Paris today, 31 January. The official intends to discuss with the French authorities the strengthening of military assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Rador reports.

The Ukrainian official will meet his French counterpart Sebastien Lecornu to discuss equipment that France can transfer to Ukraine, including the possibility of providing Kiev with air defence systems.

The French and Italian governments were negotiating the supply of such a system to the Ukrainian army.

Transnistrian economy hit by energy crisis: exports down by 60 percent

The energy crisis on the left bank of the Nistru, triggered by the interruption of Russian gas supplies by Gazprom, has affected the economy of the region, claims the alleged prime minister of Tiraspol, Alexandr Rozenberg. According to him, exports have decreased “dramatically” by about 60%, equivalent to 3.3 million dollars, and imports by 43 percent – which is 7 million dollars.
