The Republic of Moldova would cooperate with Denmark on green energy

The Republic of Moldova looks forward to intensifying its cooperation with Denmark in the field of green energy. President Maia Sandu made the statement after a meeting with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.

"We would like to cooperate in the field of renewable energy. Our current energy crisis has led us to focus on the country's energy self-sufficiency, especially renewable or green resources. We welcome the exploratory visits of representatives of Danish companies to the Republic of Moldova in this sector," the head of state stated.

Our current energy crisis has led us to focus on the country's energy independence, especially on renewable or green resources. We welcome the exploratory visits of representatives of Danish companies to the Republic of Moldova in this sector," the head of state stated.

Maia Sandu stated that the Republic of Moldova will continue its cooperation with the Danish International Development Agency. Furthermore, she said that the Moldovan authorities want to cooperate with Denmark in the areas of waste management and carbon emissions.

"Denmark is a renowned European leader in waste management. The waste-to-energy and heat conversion projects and carbon reduction initiatives heralded by Denmark serve as examples from which we want to learn," she added.

The head of state noted that the Moldovan authorities are also interested in increasing economic exchanges and increasing Danish investment in Moldova.

"I welcome the first visit of a head of government from Denmark. Hopefully, your visit will give a new impetus to the cooperation existing between our countries," Maia Sandu added.

In turn, the Danish Prime Minister stated that the Republic of Moldova is an important friend and partner of Denmark and that the two countries could work together in many areas, including green energy.

The Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark praised the Republic of Moldova's achievement of candidate country status and reiterated the commitment to provide assistance despite difficult conditions. Prior to her visit to the Republic of Moldova, Mette Fredriksen visited Ukraine.

"I have seen with my own eyes the terrible destruction caused by Russia's brutal attacks on Ukraine's civilian infrastructure, which is also affecting your country. The impact on gas prices, electricity, is a great challenge for you and for all of us. Within the EU we are working to ease this burden and we are determined to increase this macro-financial assistance to the Republic of Moldova to €295 million", said Mette Frederiksen.
