Citizens will receive alerts about emergencies and disasters

Citizens will receive warnings about emergencies and disasters via mobile phones. The Parliament ratified today a loan agreement from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development for the implementation of the Strengthening Moldova's Disaster Risk Management and Resilience Project.

Thus, our country will benefit from a $40 million loan from the World Bank, granted on favorable terms.

Five million dollars are provided for the development of the public warning system. Specifically, a system with national coverage, based on mobile telephony, will be installed and operationalized. This will allow the immediate dissemination of emergency warnings, which will result in saving lives and reducing material losses.

Moreover, $22.5 million will be used to purchase emergency response vehicles and other equipment, such as search, rescue and logistics containers, for the General Inspectorate for Emergencies. Another $1.5 million is intended for community preparedness for emergencies.

Also, six million dollars will be invested in improving hydrometeorological services.
