New rules for entering the United Kingdom come into effect from April 2

The Civil Aeronautical Authority of the Republic of Moldova (AAC) has announced that Moldovan citizens and EU citizens, including those with Romanian citizenship, will need to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) in order to enter the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK) as of April 2, 2025.
The Aeronautical Authority has issued an important notice for passengers flying from Chisinau International Airport to the United Kingdom. Regardless of whether they check-in online, all passengers must also present themselves at the airport check-in counter to have their ETA visa checked before passing through security, passport, and customs controls. “This measure is essential to ensure compliance with the new regulations and to avoid delays caused by the additional time required for boarding checks,” reads a press release from the AAC.
Also, according to the cited source, if the passenger does not have all the necessary documents and is denied boarding, the airline is not responsible for this situation and will not cover any additional costs.
The AAC mentions that the ETA represents a new electronic authorization system for travel to the UK. This electronic authorization applies to all citizens who, previously, could travel to the UK without a visa. Physical visas will be replaced with electronic visas, significantly simplifying the travel process.
