U.S. provides new equipment to Codru Engineer Battalion

The "Codru" Engineer Battalion of the National Army has received a batch of equipment from the United States Government through the Humanitarian Demining Assistance Program.

According to the Ministry of Defense, the assistance is intended for the training of National Army engineers and includes bulletproof vests, mine detectors, research backpacks, specialized radiographic equipment, probes, explosive device models, special tools for remotely handling munitions, bomb disposal devices, and more.
Previously, through the U.S. Humanitarian Demining Assistance Program, an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Excellence Center was built and equipped within the "Codru" Engineer Battalion, and a modern demolition range was inaugurated.

Additionally, through this program, military engineers have received specialized training in accordance with international standards on demining techniques and the neutralization of explosive hazards detected in the soil.
Launched in November 2013, the program aims to enhance the capabilities of the National Army's engineer units.
