Moldova plants trees: Sandu promotes reforestation

President Maia Sandu participated in a seedling planting event near Negureni, in the Telenești district, on Friday.

At the event, acacia and myrobalan saplings, species adapted to local climatic conditions, were planted, playing a crucial role in soil protection and air quality improvement.

"I thank the foresters for their efforts in expanding forested areas, and the volunteers participating in these planting events. Since the National Reforestation Program's launch, we have reforested over 15,000 hectares in two years. With steady progress, we are cultivating a cleaner, greener Moldova," said Maia Sandu.

The National Reforestation Program was launched in November 2023 by the Ministry of Environment and the Moldsilva Agency, under the auspices of the Presidency. It aims to rehabilitate and establish new forests across 145,000 hectares by 2032.
