Moldova introduces new identity cards: What you need to know

In relation to the transition to the new technological process for the issuance of the new identity card, the Agency for Public Services announces that, on March 31 and April 1, no identity card applications will be processed.
According to the agency, starting April 2, citizens will be able to submit their identity card applications at the ASP multifunctional centers.
Citizens who urgently need an identity card will be issued provisional identity cards.
Provisional identity cards have the same legal value as permanent identity cards.
It is specified that citizens of Moldova, both within the country and abroad, can request a new type of identity card in line with European standards.
After the Agency for Public Services issues one million new identity cards, free of charge, in line with European standards, the issuance of this document will become fee-based, and the prices will be significantly higher than the current ones. Authorities recommend scheduling appointments online to avoid overcrowding at the issuing centers.
