IMF upwards revises global economic forecast

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has increased its forecast for global economic growth, estimating that inflation exceeded its peak. Late last year, the agency warned that the world economy had not yet entered its most difficult period, reports the BBC.

The IMF forecast was less pessimistic than it had announced a few months ago, arguing that China's recent rebound and high levels of consumer spending in the US had prompted it to upgrade its global economic forecast. However, the institution warned in its latest report that the war in Ukraine and the Covid-19 pandemic could affect the global economic rebound.

The IMF broadly estimated that global inflation has peaked and will fall from 8.8% last year to 6.6% in 2023 and 4.3% in 2024.
