Anitta Hipper about the SIS investigation into the Russian Embassy's involvement in Nesterovschi case: "We have complete trust"

"*It is, in fact, for Moldovan authorities to investigate. We have complete trust", said the spokesperson for foreign affairs and security of the European Commission, Anitta Hipper. The European official was asked by the media from Chisinau to comment on the investigations of the Security and Intelligence Service (SIS) regarding the direct involvement of the Russian Embassy in the Republic of Moldova in the transportation of MP Alexandr Nesterovschi to the Transnistrian region and his taking under the protection of the Russian special services.

"It is for Moldovan authorities to investigate. We have complete trust. If proven true, it fits into Russian propaganda and concrete action from Russian textbooks to interfere in other countries' affairs and destabilize, including the Gagauzia region and the whole of Moldova. We stand in full solidarity with Moldovan authorities and work on the resilience of Moldovan society", said Anitta Hipper.

We recall that the director of the SIS, Alexandru Musteața, announced on Monday during a press conference that the deputy Alexandr Nesterovschi is in the Transnistrian region, where he arrived with the support of the Russian Embassy in Chișinău.

According to SIS data, he was transported on the morning of March 19 to the transnistrian region in a car with diplomatic numbers of the Russian Federation. According to the cited source, Nesterovschi is currently in the Transnistrian region "under the direct protection of the Russian special services".

The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, condemned the involvement of the Russian Federation in the case of defected member of Parliament Alexandr Nesterovschi, describing the actions of the embassy as "unfriendly" and accused the Kremlin of "interference in the justice of the Republic of Moldova".

The Russian Embassy issued a statement rejecting the accusations launched by the head of the SIS regarding Moscow's interference in the country's internal affairs. The diplomatic mission qualifies the statements of the Moldovan official as "unfounded and unacceptable insinuations".

Meanwhile, the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a note to the designated ambassador of the Russian Federation in Chisinau, Oleg Ozerov, declaring three embassy employees as undesirable persons in the Republic of Moldova. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the decision is based on clear evidence of activities contrary to diplomatic status. The diplomats in question are to leave the country.
