Beyond holding licenses for all vehicle categories, she is a genuine role model for her students, who are proud of her.

For 10 years, Maria Gumeni has been teaching at the Agricultural Technical College in Soroca, training future mechanical technicians. She knows how to connect with each student, helping them grasp the subject matter and become qualified specialists in the field.

While agriculture is often called the soul of our country, what's its engine? The tractor.

Her passion for mechanics dates back to her childhood. She never imagined she would end up working in this field, yet she admits she loves what she does, and has since taught hundreds of students.

"Certainly, there was the initial thought: 'A woman in mechanics?' But through my passion and the skills I have, both students and colleagues have seen what I can do, and that I do it well," the teacher shares.

"She explains things very well, and in the labs, she demonstrates the entire process using real components. The fact that she's a woman is actually a plus, as she's often more detailed and clearer in her explanations," one student comments.

"In my opinion, if she could learn so much about mechanics, then we can become successful mechanics too," shares another student.

"When they first meet her, students are surprised to see a woman teaching them agricultural mechanics and automotive transport. But eventually, they adjust and come to appreciate having her as their teacher," says professor Serghei Slutu.

Thanks to her passion for her work, Maria Gumeni has overcome numerous stereotypes. If she had the chance to go back in time, she would choose the same profession all over again.
