Farmers affected by frost can benefit from state aid

Farmers impacted by frost during this period can apply for assistance. To do so, they must inform their local city hall within 24 hours of the frost occurrence. Following this notification, the local administration will assemble a commission that will assess the damage on-site within six working days and prepare an assessment report.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry states, "This document is registered in the accounting records and is necessary to get the Notice of Attestation of the Justifying Impediment, issued by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova. It is subsequently used to renegotiate payment terms with banks, suppliers, and other creditors."
The Ministry also announces that during this period, fruit trees and vineyard plantations are particularly affected, especially during the flowering phase.
Additionally, the ministry encourages farmers to insure their crops, noting that the state subsidizes up to 70% of the cost of the insurance premium.
In 2024, a total of 502 applications were submitted, and through the subsidy mechanisms, the Agriculture Intervention and Payments Agency (AIPA) has paid over 61 million lei from the state budget to cover insurance premiums.
Meteorologists forecast frosts of up to -5°C in the Republic of Moldova between April 7 and 12. Farmers are urged to take protective measures to minimize the impact of frost on their harvests.
