Elena Lasconi’s first reaction to USR decision: "I am not withdrawing from the race, I’m more determined than ever"

USR President Elena Lasconi told Digi24 on Wednesday, after the party she leads decided to support Nicușor Dan in the May presidential elections, that she is not withdrawing from the race for Cotroceni.
"I am not withdrawing from the race; I am more determined than ever. I understand how corrupt this system is, and I expect to face various forms of pressure. I would urge my colleagues to consider the value of any gifts they receive and to inquire about the sources of those gifts, especially if they support Nicușor Dan," she declared.
"It is an extremely poor decision by the USR. Many may be acting out of fear that people will blame us for not making it to the second round. If anyone thinks they will win simply because someone else withdraws, then I suggest we ask everyone to withdraw," added Elena Lasconi.
When asked if she would resign as president of the USR, she replied, "I will remain at the head of the party. I am not resigning; I have been a fighter my entire life."
Her comments come after the USR decided to support Nicușor Dan in the presidential elections scheduled for May.
We remind you that in the upcoming presidential elections in May, Romanians will have to choose from 11 candidates.
