FC Barcelona crushed Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter finals with an emphatic 4-0 victory at home.

The Catalan giants are now virtually guaranteed a place in the semifinals.

Barça played with ease and confidence but only managed one goal in the first half, courtesy of Raphinha’s composed finish. After the break, however, the hosts took full control. Robert Lewandowski finished off a brilliant team move, with Raphinha once again delivering the final pass.

The Polish striker struck again shortly afterwards, and in the 77th minute, young prodigy Lamine Yamal also got on the scoresheet, converting another assist from the standout Raphinha.

In another quarterfinal matchup, Paris Saint-Germain beat Aston Villa Birmingham 3-1. The English side opened the scoring through Morgan Rogers, which sparked Luis Enrique’s footballing machine into action. PSG equalised through a superb strike by Désiré Doué, and early in the second half, Hvicha Kvaratskhelia scored a stunning goal of his own.

In extra time, Nuno Mendes sealed the victory with PSG’s third goal.
The return legs—Aston Villa vs. PSG and Borussia Dortmund vs. FC Barcelona—will be played on April 15.
