European funds boost success: Dondușeni farm exports eggs to the EU

A family business from the village of Tîrnova, Dondușeni district, has managed to develop thanks to sustained work, perseverance and European financial support. Founded in 2003 with only 18 employees, the company has now grown to 85 employees. With the help of European funds, modern equipment was purchased that allowed it to meet European standards. Recently, the poultry farm obtained authorization to export eggs to the EU countries.
The process of obtaining the authorisation to export eggs to the EU market took more than nine months, the company representative claims.
"With the help of ANSA, we were included in the list to export and it took a month to find business partners. It is quite complicated because the control is much stricter and more rigorous, this means that we have to be much more cautious", said Roman Sîrbu, poultry representative.
Avicola received three grants totalling 136 thousand euros, through EU programs. The money was invested in modern equipment, including high-performance monitoring equipment for breeding spaces for up to 40 thousand chickens.
“It is an opportunity for them to expand their market and gain access to a very profitable market with high standards. I saw that egg sorting machine, which does everything automatically. I think it is a mutually beneficial relationship,” said Janis Mazeiks, Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova.
The enterprise became, in 2024, the second poultry farm in the Republic of Moldova authorised to export eggs to the EU market.
