Official // Parliamentary elections set for September 28, 2025

The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova has announced that the parliamentary elections will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025. This decision received support from 57 deputies. The official document will be published in the Official Gazette, after which the decision will formally come into effect.
A group of deputies from the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) has proposed a date for the upcoming parliamentary elections in accordance with the constitutional requirement to hold elections within three months after the current legislature's term expires. This timeline follows the early elections that took place on July 11, 2021.
In response, the Communist and Socialist Bloc (BCS) faction, led by member of Parliament Grigore Novac, introduced an alternative proposal. Novac registered a bill suggesting that the parliamentary elections be scheduled for July 27, 2025. During the plenary session, he emphasized that "the people's desire is for the elections to take place as soon as possible, without the use of administrative resources, with the depoliticization of the Central Electoral Commission and the Constitutional Court, without falsifications, and under conditions of free and fair elections."
However, the parliamentary majority, dominated by PAS, rejected the BCS initiative.
Vlad Batrîncea, the leader of the BCS faction, accused the majority of trying to extend the current legislature's mandate and misusing public resources for electoral purposes.
"We notice that the mandate of this Parliament is extended until the fall, and the reasons are very clear: the valorization of administrative resources and the use of taxpayers' money for electoral projects," said Vlad Batrincea.
On the other hand, PAS deputy Eugeniu Sinchevici accused the opposition of attempting to divert the Republic of Moldova from its path toward European integration.
"There are political forces that are openly supported from outside the country, seeking to halt our European progress and isolate us", said PAS deputy Eugeniu Sinchevici.
Shortly, the Central Electoral Authority is expected to draft and approve the necessary documents for organizing and conducting the parliamentary elections in the fall.
